Woman’s Day (New Zealand)

Editor’s letter

- SIDO KITCHIN EDITOR-IN-CHIEF, WOMAN’S DAY

Feeling fresh from a fabulous family holiday in Tahiti, I came back to Woman’sDay desperate to catch up on all the celebrity gossip. After switching off in paradise for a week, I was dying to know what the stars had been up to. And I was spoilt for choice by office chatter.

No sooner had we heard the baby of the Kardashian clan Kylie was having one of her own, then big sister Khloé trumped her news with a “me too” (page 14). Along with Kim’s surrogate, that’s three more Kardashian cousins to ensure succession in the reality TV royal family.

On that note, Prince Harry’s first official public declaration of love for Meghan Markle, holding hands and snuggling his bride-to-be at the Invictus Games in Toronto (page 10), was gorgeous to see – but you know that I’m a sucker for romance.

I was beside myself to see a sneak peek of Marriedat FirstSightNZ this week and I’m sure you’ll agree, it’s the most amazing show ever! Loved it! This week, we catch up with unlucky-in-love Bel from TheBachelorNZ, who is one of the brave brides on MarriedatFirstSight (page 30). ShortlandStreet sweethearts Tane Williams and Lucy Barclay share their journey to happiness (page 26), but I was really sorry to read that married MyKitchenRules couple Chris and Bex Wright have split (page 22).

So why, with all this juicy gossip, is it a simple set of photos of Angelina Jolie doing a grocery shop (page 4) that is my absolute favourite feature this week? Yes, Ange is ridiculously chic in signature black with glamorous hair and make-up – I always get caught looking daggy at the supermarket – but I just love seeing this red-carpet A-lister pushing a trolley. And getting a gawk at what she’s bought is awesome!

Just like us, Ange likes to flick through the magazines at check out – and pop one in her shop. You’ve got to love that!

Have a wonderful week.
