Harry’s girl proves she has a voice!

It was hardly a moment for the faint-hearted, with all eyes on Meghan Markle as she was thrust into centre stage for her first joint royal event with fiancé Prince Harry, his brother Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge.

But while some wondered if she might slink into the shadows, the former Suits star, 36, made her voice heard loud and clear as she and the other royals gave an interview about the charities they support in London last week.

Fierce feminist Meghan declared confidently at the Royal Foundation Forum, “I hear a lot of people speaking about girls’ empowerment and women’s empowerment, and you will hear people saying they are helping women find their voices. I fundamentally disagree with that because women don’t need to find a voice – they have a voice. They need to feel empowered to use it and people need to be urged to listen.”

The comment raised eyebrows among royal watchers. While promoting awareness of causes is a well-oiled responsibility of the Windsor

clan, overt political statements are avoided. Indeed, Kate, 36, chose not to wear black in solidarity with the Time’s Up movement at the recent BAFTA Awards, a decision that drew flak.

However, Meghan insists she’s supported by her husband-to-be, saying, “I certainly know how passionate I am, and Harry and I see the world so similarly in our approach of being very hands-on with things.”

The prince appears to agree. Joking about the “fab four” royals on stage, he quipped, “We’re stuck together for the rest of our lives.”
