Make or break Margot and Tom’s marriage SOS

A healing holiday is in order for the desperate couple

-

Since the start of their romance, it’s been one shrouded in secrecy, with Margot Robbie making it clear she didn’t want her low-profile marriage ruined by Hollywood and the fame game. But last week, the Oscar nominee’s husband Tom Ackerley made an unconventional move, posting a series of photos of the loved-up pair at a wedding in Australia on his Instagram. While it looked like a purposeful move to silence recent break-up rumours, a well-placed source tells us the trip Down Under was an attempt to save the relationship – and it may have been a success!

A source tells, “Margot and Tom’s trip has come at a vital time as they’re at breaking point and have both agreed that this vacation is make-or-break, given the past six months they’ve been leading increasingly separate lives and have barely been on speaking terms.”

The couple landed in Australia last week, visiting Margot’s family in Queensland before making their way down to Melbourne to her close friend’s wedding.

Wearing a stunning $2540 red designer dress from label The Vampire’s Wife, it was all smiles from Margot, 27, as she cuddled up to her Brit producer husband Tom, 28.

“They could hardly keep their hands off each other,” said an insider at the wedding,

where Margot was named as “Mrs Tom Ackerley” in the seating plan.

But in the months leading up to the trip, things couldn’t have been more different, with jealous rows and separate lives plaguing their romance.

“Margot and Tom have been battling marriage problems ever since they moved from London to Los Angeles, something Tom was adamant against but knew they had no choice as they were making I,Tonya,” says our source.

“Tom never settled and was constantly jetting back and forth from LA to London, often leaving Margot alone for long chunks of time.”

When the filmmakers did reunite, it was usually only for work purposes.

The couple started their own production company, LuckyChap Entertainment, with pals Josey McNamara and Sophia Kerr in 2014.

Since then, business has boomed, with the pair producing the critically acclaimed I,Tonya, as well as the upcoming Dreamland, which also stars Margot.

Seethinggreen

But working together has caused tension, our source explains. “Tom’s jealousy got out of control and he was constantly accusing Margot of flirting with co-stars or having secret affairs despite having no evidence to base his wild claims on.

“He’s even stopped her from taking roles if he’s uncomfortable with who she’ll be co-starring with. Things got so bad last month, he moved out and went to stay with some friends, leaving Margot to meet with divorce lawyers to seek advice.”

It’s an understandable

move considering Margot’s worth now stands at a staggering $17 million, and she and Tom didn’t organise a prenuptial agreement before their 2016 Byron Bay wedding.

After all, Margot’s attraction to the romance was how un-Hollywood it was. They may have met on the set of the 2014 film SuiteFrançaise, but they fell in love flatting with several friends in London. However, in the past few years, the Aussie darling’s been catapulted into Hollywood’s heart, cementing her as a favourite leading lady.

Costlymistake

“Because of no prenup being signed, she’s been warned that half of her fortune could be at stake and she could have a bitter fight on her hands – something she wants to avoid at every cost,” says our source.

Last year, the pair reached out to a counsellor, hoping that marriage therapy could get them back on track. But her promotional tour for I,Tonya meant that time to dedicate to her relationship was scarce.

In fact, their four-day trip to Australia was the most time the pair have spent together, outside of work or Hollywood, in the past year. And they relished spending time with normal friends.

“Being back in Australia has been really good for them and Margot says it’s the first time in months that she’s felt connected to him,” tells our source.

“She says being back Down Under is always the perfect remedy as it’s where she feels most happy and comfortable. It’s her safe place. She’s torn between two worlds, and feels like Hollywood is their curse and is slowly destroying them.”

It’s a revelation that has led the Wolf of Wall Street beauty to promise her husband she will start taking a more balanced approach to work and their relationship.

And our source reveals that the couple are now looking to book a second honeymoon somewhere tropical and private.

“Margot even says that they should do a road trip across the US later in the year,” the source explains. “She really wants to make it work.”
