LISA’S CANCER PANIC

The Kiwi call girl’ s scary brush with death

-

High-profile Kiwi sex worker Lisa Lewis has gone under the knife after a brush with cancer.

The former stripper, who found fame as a naked newsreader for Alt TV, had surgery earlier this year to remove dangerous precancerous cells in her cervix found during a routine pap smear.

The Hamilton-based mum-of-one, 36, was shocked by the discovery as she has been planning a family. “It was scary,” she tells Woman’s

Day. Da “My biggest fear was whether w I could have children in the future because it’s an option no woman wants taken away from her.”

The day before the operation, a nervous Lisa accidentally dropped a bottle of pasta sauce while at the supermarket. She recalls, “The glass shattered and the red sauce went everywhere – it looked like blood. I was scared, like, is this a sign?”

Unable to sleep, the call girl worked that entire night. She tells, “I was running on nothing but adrenaline. By the time I got to the hospital, I was so tired, I just wanted to get it over with so I could sleep.”

Fortunately, surgeons were able to cut out only the affected area of Lisa’s cervix and she needed just three weeks of bedrest before she could return to work. Recent tests show all the cancerous cells were removed.

Lisa – who made headlines for streaking at an All Blacks game in 2006 – says, “Pre-cancerous changes in the cervix are common at any age and if left untreated, they can progress to cancer cells up to 15 years later.

“There’ll be others who’ve gone through what I have,” she says. “And we shouldn’t feel embarrassed to talk about it openly.”
