We chat to 13Reasons

Why star Katherine Langford, 21, about her new role in Love, Simon.

ON TTHE STORY ...

At the centre, it’s a love story and it’ it’s a coming-of-age tale about a 17-year-old boy named Simon Spier, a closeted gay teenager w who falls in love with another closeted gay teenager online. It encompasses a lot about what I feel being in high school is a about. I really resonated with the feeling of being in high school an and wanting to really be your au authentic self. But then, on the other hand, you’re trying to figure out who you are.

ON O HER CHARACTER ... I play Simon’s best friend Leah, and what you see through the course of the film is her deal with everyone else growing around her and her not really knowing how to keep up or change chan with that.

ON TTHE CAST AND CREW ... It was wa a really fun set to be on, partly because beca everyone got along so well. Also everyone was there for the right reasons and we were just so excited about telling a story that meant so much.

ON GOING FROM HER FIRST TV SHOW TO HER FIRST FILM ... When I first read the script, it was a few weeks before we wrapped season one of 13 Reasons Why. At that time, I was in the middle of a really intense role and reading Love,

Simon, it was such a joyous piece full of love and full of light.

ON WHAT WE CAN EXPECT ... This is a movie you will go into and come out of feeling better, but you’ll also take away a really important message. For me, the beauty of Love,

Simon is that there are so many characters to relate to that all have their own wonderful journeys. It’s light-hearted but also hits you in ways emotionally that you don’t suspect.
