Not too long ago, the British public were head over heels with their new princess-intraining Meghan Markle as she wowed the crowds by fiancé Prince Harry’s side.
But now, just weeks out from the royal wedding, her world is crumbling as explosive tell-alls and bitter people from her past threaten to ruin her dream day.
Instead of counting down excitedly to her nuptials, well-placed royal sources say Meghan, 36, is feeling lonely and overwhelmed as she comes under attack for allegedly being “cold”, “selfserving” and a pushy “social climber” by her own friends
and family. She’s even been forced into hiding to escape the backlash!
“Meghan and Harry were tellingly absent from the royal family’s traditional appearance at Easter Sunday church,” a palace insider tells Woman’s
Day. “Usually, attendance is compulsory, so it’s a sure sign Meghan needed some time out.”
Having given up her much-loved acting career and life across the Atlantic, Meghan is said to be feeling increasingly jittery as her big day gets closer. Now friends say she’s questioning whether she can cope with the constant scrutiny that comes with her new reality as a royal.

A Hollywood Princess, which has been drip-fed to the public ahead of its release – and the controversial biographer doesn’t paint a favourable picture of the future Duchess of Sussex, as she is tipped to be titled.
In it, she’s accused of cruelly dumping her first husband, film producer Trevor Engelson, in 2013 by mailing her wedding and engagement rings to their West Hollywood unit.
The author also implies Meghan wasn’t afraid to end relationships if they were holding her back from superstardom, as was the case with Trevor, 41, after just two years of marriage.
The couple wed shortly after Meghan landed the role in Suits that would propel her to fame and moved from Los Angeles to Toronto. But the long-distance relationship didn’t last – and Andrew claims Trevor “went from cherishing Meghan to feeling like he was a piece of something stuck to the bottom of her shoe”.
Now the attacks on Meghan are coming from all directions. While she insists she barely knew anything about the royal family before falling for Harry, old friends describe her as wanting to be the new Princess Diana – and say she, like the rest of the world, was in tears when she watched the tragic funeral in 1997.

“She was always fascinated by the royal family,” says her former childhood best friend Ninaki Priddy, who fell out with Meghan after her divorce from Trevor.
As Meghan struggles to deal with the latest backlash, insiders say Harry, 33, is in a panic of his own as he worries about his bride.
“He’s fiercely protective of Meghan, and just wants the haters to back off and stop trying to ruin her reputation
– and their wedding day,” reports a friend. “He’s always been worried about how Meghan will handle the glare of royal life, having watched his own mother Diana struggle with the same issues.”
Woman’sDay is told Harry’s brother Prince William, 35, and the Duchess of Cambridge, 36, have also been called upon for support, with Kate counselling Meghan on how to make it through her early days as a royal.
“Kate knows better than anyone what it’s like to have all this scrutiny on you and she’s promised Meghan that it will all blow over in time,” reports the pal.
“She’s telling Meghan to ignore the background noise and try to look forward to her wedding.”
