Two baby bumps, a tantrum and a rather gargantuan faux pas were the order of the day when the British royals got together for their Easter Sunday church service.

As the family arrived at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, it became obvious that Prince William and his heavily pregnant wife, the Duchess of Cambridge, were going to break tradition by turning up unceremoniously late.

By the time the pair arrived, the Queen – who by protocol is always the last to arrive at such events – had given up waiting and gone in!

William, 35, and Kate, 36, who are expecting their third child this month, blamed their tardiness on heavy traffic.

After the church service, the duchess was able to compare baby bumps with the Queen’s favourite granddaughter, Zara Tindall, 36, who is due to give birth to baby number two in the coming weeks.

The event was also a chance for Prince Andrew’s youngest daughter Princess Eugenie, 28, to enjoy the 14th-century gothic chapel with her fiancé, wine merchant Jack Brooksbank, 31, ahead of their October 12 wedding in the same venue.

Not present were Prince Harry, 33, and Meghan, 36, who will tie the knot there next month too, as well as Prince Philip, who was undergoing a hip replacement operation, which was a success.

As the Windsor clan left the church, Prince Edward’s 10-yearold son, the Viscount Severn, was visibly upset and being comforted by his mother, the Countess of Wessex, 53. The following day, though, there were no tears to be seen as the young royal was snapped driving the family’s Land Rover around the private grounds of Windsor Castle.

Propped up on a booster seat, James zapped “reasonably fast” around the estate, according to a witness, with an unidentified person in the back seat. Yet despite his age, he wasn’t breaking the law as he was on private property – Granny’s place!
