Woman’s Day (New Zealand)

Editor’s note

-

I’m still buzzing about the beautiful royal wedding – I just can’t get enough of the photos and loved reading the VIP secrets in this week’s issue – but I must admit, it’s also left me with this sad void inside.

After crazy, feverish anticipation and excitement ahead of the big event, which only intensified on the day, I was positively fizzing by the time Meghan Markle was walking up the aisle of the chapel. She was so gorgeous and Prince Harry’s joy was palatable.

But as the spectacular service drew to a close and the happy couple departed in their carriage, my bubble burst and I started to deflate. Not because the wedding wasn’t everything I dreamed of – it really was the stuff fairytales are made of. No, I was blue because the magic was coming to a close. In my career, the royal wedding was climactic and I just didn’t want it to end. The carnival was over.

So this week, I’ve had to make a concerted effort to pick myself up and think of the glorious future chapters to come in this magical story.

I’m delighted to read in this week’s cover story that starting a family is front of mind for Harry and Meghan. Can you imagine how gorgeous their kids will be?

And I’m also looking forward to seeing how Meghan will continue to change the face of the monarchy with her thoroughly modern style. She has not only brought incredible happiness to Harry, but she’s a powerhouse who is determined to use her sway for good around the world. I really think she could be the next Princess of Hearts. I can’t wait to find out.

Have a great week everyone!
