The “I wills” have been promised, the cake has been cut and the photos have been swooned over by royal lovers all around the globe. But there was more to Harry and Meghan’s nuptials than met the eye! Here, we reveal some of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s hidden wedding secrets.

Everyone knows the only person who should wear white to a wedding is the bride and Oprah Winfrey had a massive emergency on her hands when she realised the cream dress she’d arranged to wear for Harry and Meghan’s ceremony was white! The talk-show queen made some last-minute calls and scored a pink dress with lace trim, courtesy of Stella McCartney.

Meghan’s beloved beagle Guy – a former rescue dog – caused chaos at the evening reception, hosted by Prince Charles, running around and d scoffing up spilled canapés!

Harry celebrated his last night as a bachelor at the pub with a bunch of mates and woke up on his big day with a stinking hangover. He confessed to friends he had a “rotten headache” during the ceremony.

Meghan and her mum Doria spent a quiet night before the big day watching

Center Stage, about a group of young dancers at a ballet academy, which was one of Meghan’s favourite movies growing up. George Clooney was the consummate party animal at the evening reception, pouring guests shots of his own tequila brand, Casamigos. He later danced with both the bride and the Duchess of Cambridge, but we’re told Fergie, the Duchess of York, declined his offer to take her for a spin on the dance floor! Eight-months-pregnant Zara Tindall, 37, was seen giving her hubby Mike a right royal telling off at the Queen’s luncheon after the wedding when he downed four glasses of champers in the first hour and was acting extremely tipsy!

Victoria Beckham looked even more strained than usual on Meghan and Harry’s big day. The former Spice Girl was furious after learning her husband David had been out with a group of stunning young women the evening before. One Instagram picture from the evening showed David posing up with brunette Kara Keble-White, who posted the words, “Thanks for the shots.” Posh was not amused. Meghan didn’t throw her bouquet over her shoulder to see who would be next down the aisle. Instead, she followed a royal tradition set by the Queen Mother in 1923 and placed her understated spray – bound with a raw silk ribbon – at the Grave of the unknown Warrior in Westminster Abbey.

The empty seat next to William wasn’t, as some speculated, to honour his late mother Princess Diana. It was left vacant simply so that the Queen, who was sitting behind, would have an uninterrupted view of the altar.

Comedian James Corden almost blew it during the wedding service – literally! The CarpoolKaraoke star suffers from allergies and the flowers festooning the chapel meant he spent the entire service trying not to sneeze. At the evening reception, the 39-year-old dressed up as King Henry VIII and had everyone in stitches.

At the night-time party, the bar served a cocktail of ginger and rum called “When Harry Met Meghan” – a cheeky reference to Harry’s hair colour!

Meghan and Harry banned cellphones from their evening party but gave their 200 guests digital cameras to have fun with. The snaps were automatically uploaded to the official photographer’s system and shared with everyone after the event. Meghan’s “something old” was a pair of diamond stud Cartier earrings. Her “something new” were her two stunning bridal dresses by Givenchy and Stella McCartney, and her “something borrowed” was the Queen Mary Diamond Bandeau tiara, courtesy of the Queen. But her “something blue” had everyone stumped, until she wore Aquazzura heels with a blue sole for her evening reception.

As a token of her love and appreciation, Meghan gave several of her best friends – including her new sisterin-law Kate – bespoke solidgold bracelets worth $500. She also gifted each of her young bridesmaids a pair of white leather Aquazzura shoes, monogrammed with their initials and the wedding date, and her pageboys had their initials embroidered in gold on their shoulder straps.

Charles drew tears from guests during his speech, warmly welcoming Meghan and her mother m Doria to the family. He ended it with, “My darling old Harry, I’m so happy for you.”

Despite initial reports that t Harry and Meghan’s first dance was to Whitney Houston’s song “I Wanna Dance with Somebody”, it’s understood the prince and his bride actually boogied down to the 1966 hit “Land of a Thousand Dances” by soul singer Wilson Pickett.
