THE PATH TO REINVENTION

-

Ispent 20 years of my life and energy competing against others, but now I spend my energy being the best version of myself. I’d been working on Strictly ComeDancing for six years when I noticed I was increasingly feeling a deep unease.

I tried to ignore this feeling but realised my soul wasn’t happy. I didn’t feel inner peace the way I knew was possible and I wasn’t my happiest self at work. I was successful and work was fun and interesting, but it didn’t fulfil me within.

I quickly realised that blaming everything and everyone for my unhappiness wasn’t going to solve my problems, and that feeling sorry for myself and the fact that I felt lost would only cause me more pain.

Many self-help books later, I turned my situation on its head and asked, “What do I need to learn from this? What will make me wiser? What can I change within to become happier and more content?” It felt good after all the frustration, emptiness and self-pity to start focusing on how I could connect to my deepest desires and what really makes me happy.

I believe we attract into our lives what we focus on and wish for, to some extent. I recognised that I had an urge to travel, change or move. I was curious to explore a career change, a job where I could help people to succeed and find contentment. That’s when I recognised it was time to change and began to take action to reinvent my life.
