NIC’S TIPS FOR LIVING A SIMPLER LIFE
Before buying something, ask yourself, “Do I really want or need this? Are there alternatives – can I borrow, buy secondhand or repair what I already have?” Then go home and sleep on it, rather than forking out for it in the heat of the moment.
Focus on experiences over things, especially when it comes to kids. A new toy might delight them for a week, but they’ll remember a family camping trip for years.
Buy necessities in bulk – it saves time, money and packaging. For example, something as simple as switching to double-length toilet paper will halve packaging in that area.
Choose quality over quantity. It’s tempting to buy something cheap, but that price always comes at a cost. The world doesn’t need more broken things.
Avoid temptation – don’t browse at the mall or you’re bound to bring home “stuff”!
