Who am I?

-

I was born in the Canary Islands, Spain, in 1969. My parents split up when I was a baby and I was raised by my actress mother. Her folks were famous actors too, and I grew up around performers. My interests as a teen were rugby and art, but after four years of art school, I realised I was a better actor than painter. I made my first movie, The Ages of Lulu, alongside my mum in 1990. Two years later, I landed a breakthrough role as the sexy male lead in Jamón Jamón, alongside Penélope Cruz. During the ’90s, I became a star of Spanish cinema and by the end of the decade, I tackled my first leading role in English. The film, Before Night Falls, made me the first Spanish star to earn a leading actor Oscar nomination. From there, I made a string of Hollywood movies, including Collateral, with Tom Cruise, before bagging a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for my role in No Country for Old Men. The following year, I was reunited with Penélope in Vicky Cristina-Barcelona and we fell in love, marrying in 2010. Although we live with our children Leonardo and Luna in Spain, I maintain a high Hollywood profile, starring in Sky fall and Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’ s Revenge. Currently appearing alongside my wife in the biographical movie Loving Pablo, who am I? SOLUTION NEXT WEEK
