Charles reigns at home

Theroyal granddad lap sup the attention

Prince Charles has unveiled the changing face of the royal family with a series of formal yet relaxed portraits released to mark his milestone 70th birthday.

In two of the gorgeous pictures, he bounces his giggling grandson Prince George, five, on his knee, while the Duchess of Cornwall, 71, wearing dragonfly brooches given to her by her husband, cosies up to Princess Charlotte, three.

Behind them, the 36-year-old Duchess of Cambridge – in a $3500 Alessandra Rich polka-dot dress – proudly holds up her smiling youngest child, chubby-cheeked Prince Louis, who is seen for only the third time since his birth six months ago.

Next to her is hubby Prince William, 36, his brother Prince Harry, 34, and his new wife, the Duchess of Sussex, who wears Givenchy, the same label that created her wedding dress. The photos were taken in the gardens of Charles’ London home, Clarence House, in September, meaning Meghan, 37, was about two months pregnant.

Longtime royal photographer Chris Jackson says, “I was delighted to have been asked to take these portraits of the Prince of Wales surrounded by his family ... It was particularly special to capture such an informal and relaxed family portrait over a fun afternoon.”
