“Yes, I was on drugs”
Kim Kardashian West scandalised fans last week by revealing she was high on ecstasy when she wed her first husband – and that she was also buzzing on the drug when she filmed the infamous sex tape that made her a star.
It was a surprising admission from the mother-of-three, who has always presented herself as the straightlaced Kardashian who even avoids alcohol. A source close to Kim, 38, tells
Woman’s Day the revelation was a desperate attempt by the star to salvage her reputation and earning power.
The reality TV siren’s profile has taken a battering this year thanks to hubby Kanye West’s controversial rants and his support of Donald Trump, and things only got worse when it was revealed that Kim and her husband, 41, hired private firefighters to save their $85 million mansion from the California wildfires, while some of their less fortunate neighbours lost everything.
“Kim was lambasted as selfish and disgusting, and she felt it was mostly because of her fans’ growing dislike of Kanye,” claims our source. “By association, her reputation’s taken a massive hammering, so she’s hired a team of crisis PR gurus to help her claw back her dwindling fan base.
“Part of the plan is being more gritty and honest – hence the drugs admission. She wants people to see that she’s a real person with a real past, not just a perfect, body-obsessed reality star.”

Up with the Kardashians, telling her sister Kendall Jenner, 23, and sister Kourtney’s former partner Scott Disick, 35, that she was under the influence of ecstasy when she wed music producer Damon Thomas, 48, at just 19.
A few years later, when her marriage had ended, she was filmed having sex with her then-boyfriend Ray J, 37. When Scott asked her if she was again “high on ecstasy” while making the tape, Kim replied, “Absolutely. Everyone knows it.”
One person not impressed by Kim’s new warts-and-all approach is her “momager” Kris Jenner, 63, who “is furious and fears it’s going to have the opposite effect from what she’s aiming for”, says our source.
“Kim’s sure she can prove Kris wrong, and she has plenty more revelations up her sleeve to make her appear more vulnerable and relatable.”
