There is definitely magic in the air as Australian illusionist Cosentino and his girlfriend Priscilla Stavrou cosy up in Auckland for our exclusive photo shoot.

As Cosentino, 36, performs a card trick for the Woman’s

Day team, his partner, who is currently starring in the Disney musical Aladdin, looks on with a megawatt smile.

“He is always thinking about the next big thing, the next illusion, the next escape,” grins Priscilla, 29. “He’s trying to push the boundaries and I encourage it.”

Cosentino – aka Paul Cosentino – adds, “What’s really cool is when I do an effect and it blows Cill’s mind, even though she knows how it all works or has an inkling.”

The couple met in 2011 when a young Cosentino was looking for an assistant to help him on Australia’sGot

Talent. Priscilla, who has a history in musical theatre, fit the bill and a year later, their professional relationship had become romantic.

It’s almost seven years on and during this trip across the Tasman to promote his new Three show TheElements:

Cosentino and his March 2 gig on America’ s Got Talent: The

Champions, the magician’s more than happy to not be on stage himself, but instead to be watching Priscilla perform as part of the cast in Aladdin.

“It was really good to sit in the audience and see my partner in her element, doing what she loves to do on stage,” enthuses Cosentino. “I’m very proud of her and the show is just so good!”

Smiling, Priscilla describes it as “the best musical I’ve ever done”, although her favourite shows are ones she’s done with her boyfriend, of course. The lovebirds are just happy to be able to snatch some time together in the middle of Priscilla’s 10-week stint in Auckland.

“We got lucky that my TV show was airing, which allowed me to do promo while Priscilla happened to be here,” he tells. “It worked out perfectly.”

In a month, the pair will be reunited in Melbourne, where they share a home with their cats Diamond and Dante, plus French bulldog Luna. And it may not be long either before Cosentino puts a ring on it.

He confesses, “We’ve been together for seven years now, so marriage is on the cards – I’ve just got to get the timing right. Timing is the secret of the universe.”
