The long AND THE SHORTY
TV star Rebekah reveals her best-kept skin secrets
We talk beauty with bubbly 25-year-old Rebekah Palmer, who plays Dawn Robinson on Shortl and Street.
What was your first-ever experience with make-up?
It was a dance show when I was four. I had on eyeliner, mascara, foundation, lipstick, hairspray ... the works! I’ve always loved make-up and I’m pretty sure it all stemmed from there.
Runus through your skin care routine.
In the mornings, I cleanse with Murad AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser, then apply Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair serum, followed by Dermalogica Intensive Moisture Balance – and when I get to work, I often moisturise again! In the evenings, I use Garnier Micellar Cleansing Gel Wash, followed by my Murad cleanser, then Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair and Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Supercharged Complex. It sounds like a lot, but it takes no time at all. These products make my face feel hydrated after a day of heavy make-up.
What products are in your bag right now?
Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant, Mecca Lipgloss in Nude and a mini Tangle Teaser hairbrush.
What’s the best tip you’ ve learn tin the make-up chair at work?
How to contour – and how not to overdo the blush!
What’ s your one luxe beauty indulgence?
A collagen lash lift with a lash tint from Lure Professional is my go-to when I want to indulge myself. Not only do you get to close your eyes for 45 minutes, but you walk out looking like you’re wearing mascara when you’re not! I love going make-up-free on my days off, but with blonde lashes, I need something to open my eyes up a bit. Lure Professional does an amazing job and also tidies up my brows for me at the same time.
Do you have regular beauty treatments?
Besides the lash lifts, I head to Art of Nails in Ponsonby every few weeks for a pedicure.
What’ s your biggest beauty regret to date?
When I tried to dye my hair pink. I pretended that I loved it, but I actually cried!
What is your signature scent?
I’ve been wearing Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet for years.
How do you look after yourself and stay in topshape?
I’m a regular gym-goer – you’ll find me there at least four times a week. Les Mills Grit has been my favourite class for years. It’s 30 minutes of high-intensity training, which really gets a sweat on!
Any beauty advice to your younger self?
Wash your make-up off before bed – no excuses!
“I’ve always loved make-up,” Rebekah tells us. Left: All scrubbed up as Dawn for our favourite soap!
