What’s cooking, Cassidy?

Meet our new kitchen queen

It’s hard to find a spare moment to catch up with busy Bravo host Cassidy Morris in between filming for her TV show, a trip to New York Fashion Week and a holiday in Colorado’s glitzy ski resort town Aspen – and that’s just in the past two weeks!

“It’s been a crazy year,” smiles the 24-year-old when she finally finds the time to sit down to chat with us.

Last year, Cassidy was named Bravo’s first-ever local host, beating out hundreds

of other oth applicants for the coveted spot. Since then, the job has seen her jetting off around the world for her show

The Dish, often interviewing the stars of the channel’s popular shows.

“It’s been hard work learning the ropes of television because I’d never done anything like it before,” she tells. “But a highlight of the whole thing was definitely the People’s Choice Awards. Walking the red carpet and seeing Rita Ora, Victoria Beckham, the Kardashians … It was just one of the moments where you’re like, ‘Why am I here?’ It was pretty surreal.”

Despite her hectic schedule, the brunette beauty – who does high-intensity workouts and yoga to keep

fit – is now taking on a tasty new challenge. After launching a cooking web series with Bravo, Cassidy now has her own monthly food column in the pages of Woman’s Day.

“I’m super-excited as I’ve always been such a foodie!” she enthuses. “I love cooking and I’m really interested in the nutrition side of it, which I bring out in the recipes that I choose.”

What a treat!

Her culinary passion started at a young age and she has vivid memories of learning to cook by her grandmother’s side when she was just five.

“We would spend so much time in the kitchen together,” Cassidy recalls. “We’d stay up until 1am making pikelets and the most random things. Nana’s got the really oldschool Edmonds cookbook and it’s got great stuff in it! She lives by that book – it’s so funny.”

But while she might have been raised baking sugar-heavy sweet treats, the presenter says her cooking style has evolved and now is definitely on the healthy side.

“I feel it’s so important to know exactly what you’re eating and to be putting good food into your body,” she tells. “When you’re cooking it at home, you’re in charge of what’s going into the meal.

“I eat a lot of vegetables and I’m definitely a salad girl. I get quite creative with them and I’ve just started putting more fruit into my salads.”

Cassidy spent a year living and modelling in Los Angeles, and she credits this experience with helping to build her confidence. But with her TV role thrusting her further into the spotlight, the young star is more aware than ever about being a good role model.

“I get a lot of people messaging me for advice on how to get into the industry, so I do feel like I need to be constantly aware of how I’m performing and I want to make everyone proud,” she says. “That’s also a big part of the reason why eating healthy is so important to me.”
