Katie Holmes is glowing with happiness and friends say it’s all thanks to a string of dates with Jennifer Aniston’s ex Justin Theroux!
Last month, the couple enjoyed a secret four-hour tête-à-tête at a tiny restaurant in New York, and now pals are saying their dates have morphed into something more serious, with Katie, 40, inviting Justin, 48, for a cosy dinner at her apartment, where it’s believed he stayed the night!
“One of her friends was chatting to Katie on the phone the morning after and she swears she heard Justin in the background,” spills an insider.
“She’s so happy right now. She’s like the cat that got the cream. She’s had to kiss her fair share of frogs, but in Justin she may have finally found someone who truly appreciates her.”
Justin has been linked to a bevy of gorgeous women following his “heartbreaking yet gentle” divorce from Jennifer in 2018 – but up ’til now he hasn’t gelled with any of them.
And it’s no secret Katie’s had her share of disastrous relationships, from her controversial marriage to Tom Cruise, 57, to a six-year on-off romance with ladies’ man Jamie Foxx, 51. But friends say Justin – who worked with Tom on the 2008 movie Tropic Thunder – is different.
“Katie’s always liked Justin,” alleges the source. “He’s a New Yorker, he loves indie movies, he’s a brilliant writer, they share a passion for directing and he’s probably the funniest guy she’s ever met. And let’s face it – Katie needs a few laughs!
“There was an instant connection when they first met on the set of Tropic Thunder 12 years ago while she was married to Tom. She thought Justin was clever and brilliant, but of course she was already taken so she didn’t give him a second thought, but now she’s falling for him hard and fast!”
According to a friend, the new lovebirds are “trying very badly” to take things slowly for the sake of Katie’s 13-year-old daughter Suri.
“But Suri has met Justin,” says the pal, “and she’s convinced her mom to go for it.”
