Brad’s mum faces off with Ange
It’s the season of joy and goodwill, but Angelina Jolie has received an early Christmas message from the family of her soon-to-be ex-husband Brad Pitt – and it wasn’t sugar-coated!
There’s no denying life’s been difficult for Maleficent siren Angelina and AdAstra hunk Brad since their marriage imploded in 2016, but caught in the crossfire has also been Brad’s beloved parents Bill and Jane, who over the past three years have seen virtually nothing of their six grandchildren.
In addition to missing out on watching Maddox, 18, Pax, 16, Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 13, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 11, grow up, insiders say the deeply religious couple have been devastated by Angelina’s “constant public slamming” of their son, and this festive season Jane apparently decided enough was enough.
Angelina, 44, has been in
Spain filming her new Marvel movie Eternals over the past few months, but the Tomb Raider beauty returned to the US for Thanksgiving in late November and a source close to the Pitt family says that the usually calm and reserved Jane, 79, flew to Los Angeles for a face-to-face showdown with her former daughter-in-law.
“Jane has kept her mouth shut for a long time, but watching Brad’s private agony behind closed doors has now become too much to bear,” claims the source.
“She told Angelina how upsetting it’s been watching her continually twisting the knife and publicly making digs at her son three long years after their split.
“She also told Ange how Brad had kept a dignified silence through everything despite her continuing to move the goalposts in their divorce and custody battle, and putting him through hell with her continued efforts to keep the kids away from him.
“And then she dropped a bombshell, basically telling Ange that she would have no qualms about doing her own tell-all, and that she would reveal every cough and spit of their bitter divorce including the furious messages Ange sent Brad and the threats she made to him.”
Concludes the insider, “By the end of the conversation, Ange was visibly shaken but she appeared to take in what Jane told her. Knowing how mild-mannered Jane normally is, she couldn’t help but take her seriously.”
The source says Jane’s uncharacteristic outburst happened without Brad’s knowledge but if the Fight Club star, 56, had any objections after finding out about it, it didn’t show when he recently made a threeday visit to his parents’ Springfield, Missouri home to celebrate his younger brother Doug’s 53rd birthday.
Instead of heading out to eat in nearby restaurants, the Pitt clan – including Brad’s sister Julie Neal, 50, and his nieces and nephews – spent hours every night enjoying home-cooked meals and bundling up by a roaring fire.
And there was no mistaking the WorldWarZ star, sporting his trademark cheese-cutter hat and dark shades, as he was photographed hugging Bill and Jane goodbye at a local airfield before flying off in his private jet back to LA.
It’s now been more than three years since the star’s altercation with Maddox on a private jet, which sensationally prompted Angelina to call it quits on their marriage.
However, the divorce continues to drag on, with negotiations stalling over who gets the couple’s French chateau Miraval, and despite the resolution of their custody battle pals say the Fury star is feeling the chill as Christmas approaches with just three of his six children set to spend time with him over the holiday season.
Brad’s relationship with Maddox, who’s now at university in Korea, has been strained since their altercation, and Pax and Zahara are also not going to be pulling Christmas crackers at their dad’s Los Feliz abode.
“Brad’s lost co count ount of the times the kids ds haven’t been available to o see him on special occasions,” sions,” says an insider.
“But he’s backing off. He’s decided not to force it because they’ve already been through so much.”
Instead, the Moneyball actor, who is currently dating ArrestedDevelopment star
Alia Shawkat, 30, is taking comfort in being with Shiloh, Vivienne and Knox on Christmas Eve.
“He’s hoping they’ll want to spend the night,” says the insider. “But he’s really just looking forward to Christmas Eve with them.”
