By George, they’re pregnant!

Clooneys expecting twin girls

George Clooney couldn’t have asked for a better Christmas gift. After a few weeks of not feeling quite like herself, his wife Amal went to the doctor for a check-up and is rumoured to have left with some very happy news – she’s pregnant! And the happy tidings don’t end there – apparently the power couple are expecting twins again.

“It’s a very special turn of events,” a close source reveals. “They’re ecstatic.”

Which is to say, they’re over the moon, but not completely shocked. According to the insider, the parents to two-year-old twins Alexander and Ella underwent IVF in the hopes of having more children. And now, Amal, 41, is believed to be about four months along.

“She’s barely showing,” tells the source, “but she does have the beginnings of the cutest little baby bump.”

To add to their joy, the source claims Amal and George, 58, recently found out they’ll be having girls! “They’re so excited,” adds the insider.

So far, the pregnancy is going well. Despite some morning sickness early on, Amal’s “feeling great”, spills the source, who says the human rights lawyer has been making sure she’s getting enough sleep and eating a healthy diet.

“To keep her energy levels up, Amal’s chef is preparing healthy meals with lots of lean protein, vitamin-packed veges and fruits, with lots of snacks in between. She’s eating for three and feels really energised.”

Parenthood clearly agrees with the Hollywood A-listers. While the source says they have notably different styles when it comes to raising kids, they ultimately make a great team.

Amal, who’s been staying in New York while she teaches law at Columbia University, is more of a disciplinarian, says the insider. “She enforces bedtime, figures out what Ella and Alexander should eat and what they wear. George is happy to chip in, but he’s the more affectionate one who loves to play with them.”

The couple will tell the twins about their new siblings over Christmas. According to the source, “They’ll explain it in language little ones can understand, saying, ‘Mummy has two babies growing in her tummy.’

“They’ll let Alexander and Ella help with the nursery and read them books to help them get ready for the new babies.”

But the twins won’t be the first to know: a source claims George and Amal already called close pals Prince Harry and his wife Meghan to fill them in!

Clearly the holidays will be extra festive for the Clooneys this year. The family’s planning to spend Christmas at their Lake Como home, and have invited George’s best pal Rande Gerber and his wife Cindy Crawford to join them for a low-key celebration.

“It’ll be a small, intimate gathering – nothing too formal or exhausting, given Amal’s condition,” says the source. “She and George are really looking forward to spending time with Ella and Alexander and seeing them open their presents.”

After New Year’s, the busy couple will get back to business. George has been hard at work shooting Good Morning, Midnight for Netflix in Iceland. And in addition to her teaching duties, Amal has every intention of continuing her human rights work throughout her pregnancy.

While they split their time between Lake Como, New York and Los Angeles, they’re hoping their new UK country estate in

Berkshire will be ready by spring.

The pregnancy comes at the perfect time for the pair. As previously reported, George and Amal’s five-year marriage recently hit a rough patch. Sources claim the two were fighting constantly over George’s drinking and his insistence on riding his motorcycle after his near-fatal July 2018 crash.

But their good fortune has brought them closer than they’ve been for a long while. “They’ve had their rocky times but seem to be on solid ground again,” reports the showbiz pal. So much so that George has ripped up their reported $1.5 billion prenuptial agreement to show Amal how committed he is to her and their expanding family.

Plus, declares the source, “George isn’t partying as much he was, which Amal appreciates.”

Even with their hectic work schedules, they’ve made it a point to spend time together as a couple.

“They’ve been squeezing in date nights,” tells the insider. “They feel like newlyweds again. George has become the doting, loving husband Amal married five years ago. They’re more affectionate than ever and the spark is back big-time!”
