Kate Ceberano’s daughter’s SCIENTOLOGY SHOCK!
The singer is in a spin as Gypsy steps away from her religion
As a third-generation Scientologist, Kate Ceberano couldn’t have been prouder when her daughter Gypsy was accepted into the religion’s most prestigious school in the US.
For the past year she’s been boarding at the mysterious Oregon institution where children learn the teachings of Scientology founder
L Ron Hubbard rather than conventional schooling.
Gypsy, 16, is a popular student and a member of the Delphian cheerleading squad, so it came as a huge shock to the Aussie singer when her daughter – who is home in Melbourne for the American summer holidays – announced to her parents that she doesn’t want to go back to school.
“Gypsy is a homebody and is happiest when she’s back with her mum and dad,” says a source. “With the world going a bit crazy and America in the thick of it, she’s understandably nervous about going back.”
Woman’s Day has learned that a young man she attended prom with is now dating an Alaskan model, adding to Gypsy’s woes.
And given that Kate and her husband Lee Rogers have just added an adorable puppy to the clan, Gypsy’s even more reluctant to return to Delphian, saying she wants to stay with “her baby”.
While Kate, 53, understands Gypsy’s concerns, sources say she’s worried her daughter might turn her back on Scientology completely.
“Kate’s religion has shaped her whole life, and she was so pleased it was doing the same for Gypsy,” says an insider.
“She’s worried if she doesn’t keep up her education at Delphian, she might fall off the wagon and get mixed up in the wrong crowd.
“It’s rattling to Kate that Gypsy’s at risk of denouncing Scientology. She’s hoping it’s just a teenage phase and Gypsy will head back to school once Australia re-opens its borders.”
