DARE TO DREAM
Pale wood and white create the perfect backdrop for your child to express their unique personality
Composing a bright, fresh space that combines fun and function is essential when designing a children’s bedroom. Harvey Norman’s cool new Maali bedroom suite ticks all the boxes and will help you to create a stylish and comfortable room where your little adventurer can dream big.
WALLS
Create ambience by using a warm, clean colour scheme drawn from your chosen bedding, cushions and throws. I’ve selected Resene ‘Quarter Dawn Chorus’ to reflect the warm colours of our bed linen and tie the whole room together in a cohesive and creative way.
FURNITURE
Storage is essential when it comes to kids’ rooms so choosing a bed that offers extra space has to be a winning option for any parent. Harvey Norman’s Maali bed comes with a handy drawer where you can keep generous amounts of bed linen, shoes, toys and books. The coordinating bedside table, chest of drawers and bookcase robe also offer extra storage while tying together the scheme of clean pale wood with white detailing.
TEXTILES
Keeping the backdrop clean and simple allows a braver approach with bed linen. More personality can be added through pillows, cushions and bed covers and will usually dictate the colour palette of your room. I’ve used the Indy duvet cover set from Harvey Norman for its clever colour combo and coupled it with the Stargazer quilt (in drawer), the Meru Tibetan throw rug and cushion, and the Hey Cutie round cushion to create a fun, timeless design.
RUG
A simple yet strong grey circular rug anchors the room and adds depth to the pale wood flooring. This colour ties back in with the grey in the bed linen, bringing the look together.
ACCESSORIES
Choose accessories in similar colours and textures to create unity. Clean, graphic art adds interest without throwing off the harmony of the space. A simple white metal lamp and other white pieces tie in with the highlights on the pale wooden furniture.
GREENERY
Flowers and pot plants add freshness and colour to any room, as well as contributing another layer of depth and texture to the space.
