The heat pump solution

If you're about to build or renovate a home, it's an opportunity to get things right from the very start – especially when it comes to heating

-

Renovating or designing a new home is an exciting time. You get to plan your dream house, and how it can work for you and your family’s lifestyle. Among the key decisions you'll be making is how you'll heat your home. More and more people are choosing heat pumps due to their reliability, ease of use and efficiency. Imagine you’re living in your new house... whether you’re arriving home from work in the evening, getting up early in the morning to pack the kids' lunches, or curling up with the family on the couch for movie night, you’ll want a healthy, comfortable temperature in your home.

To enjoy a temperature-controlled home environment, a Daikin Specialist Dealer will recommend a tailored solution that is dependent on your home's unique design, the number of occupants and any specific needs. Daikin was voted number one for overall satisfaction in the heat pump category, so when you purchase a

Daikin you can be sure you're making the right decision! But before you choose a Daikin model, you'll need to consider a few things first

Make the right choice for your place

> Climate and size – Think about the layout of your house and select a heat pump that is sized correctly for your home. If you live in a colder area, ask your Daikin supplier to size the heat pump based on its low-temperature performance. Ensuring you have the right size heat pump is important for comfort levels in your home.

> Lifestyle – Where will you be doing most of the living in your home? Take into account whether you’ll have an open-plan living area where you and the kids can eat, entertain and do homework in one space. If that's the case, you may want a heat pump that works well heating one space. If you have multiple rooms that are used at di erent times, then it may be that the multi-split is your best option. However, if you have a large house with rooms that are used consistently at specific times of the day then a ducted system may be the right choice.

> Placement – When deciding where to place a heat pump, think about which direction you want the air to blow. You don’t want it blowing onto you as you sit in your favourite lounge chairs! When choosing a wall to place the heat pump on, consider that pipes and drains will need to be connected to the outdoor unit.

> Insulation – Before installing a heat pump, ensure your house is properly insulated. It’ll make it cheaper and easier to heat, without adequate insulation the heat will quickly escape.

> Energy efficiency – Heat pumps are known to be one of the most e icient forms of heating, especially Daikin heat pumps. The US7 is New Zealand’s most energy-e icient heat pump, having achieved an impressive 7-star rating, so you can be assured you are making an economical choice.
