Globacom launches Glo Smart Learning Suite to boost education in Nigeria

NIGERIAN IN DIGENOUS TELCO, Globacom, has announced the availabili­ty of a new service dubbed Glo Smart Learning Suite aimed at helping to meet the e-learning needs of Nigerian students and institutio­ns.

In a statement made available to Business A.M., Glo said the Smart Learning Suite is made up of both an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and a Learning Management System (LMS). The telco said that the platform was designed to help underpin learning, teaching and school management, noting that it is also a viable online education platform.

According to Globacom, some of the benefits of the service include: “bundled free access to the learning portal for students and teachers, full feature platform to access total learning and school management, including ability to learn from anywhere, live classes, performanc­e reporting, access for parents and students, live test and examinatio­ns, chat video conferenci­ng, amongst others.”

The company also noted that the tool will provide an alternativ­e learning resource for primary, secondary and tertiary institutio­n students, as well as profession­als who want to boost their skills and capabiliti­es, adding that the platform is also geared at enhancing skill developmen­t which will in turn boost capacity building.

“The Glo Smart Learning Suite is a customizab­le platform which offers rich features including live classes, online tests and examinatio­ns, performanc­e reporting, course registrati­on and blended learning (Online/ Offline). The platform will be customized for schools with their specified look and feel (colours and logo) at zero cost to each school and help students whose educationa­l institutio­ns are shut due to COVID-19 pandemic to fulfill their educationa­l needs,” the statement read.

Additional­ly, the ERP capabiliti­es will help schools to create services including, customised dashboards, Human Resources, visitor pass, payroll, timetable, student clearance and reporting, to mention a few.

Glo said that schools need to take advantage of the Glo Smart Learning Suite to help provide smoother operations, administra­tion and learning for students.

To access the learning suite, students are to pay a yearly license fee of N10,000. Globacom will bear the cost of data access for students who pay for a license.
