NBA-SBL Training Committee Holds E-learning Session on Leveraging Social Media

The Training Committee of the Nigerian Bar Associatio­n-section on Business Law ( NBASBL) in collaborat­ion with Lareine Gold Consulting (‘LGC’), a UK Business Consulting Firm, is organising a one-day virtual learning and developmen­t session themed ‘Lawyers Leveraging the Power of Social Media’.

According to the Training Committee Chairman, Tolu Aderemi, the training which is the first in the Committee’s Business Developmen­t series of trainings, will focus on, inter alia, the importance of social media as a business developmen­t tool for lawyers; its governance procedures and best practice and what the future portends for marketing of legal services in Nigeria. According to Aderemi, the importance of business developmen­t for legal practice cannot be over-emphasized. It is the strategy through which law firms raise awareness of their services, win more work and, ultimately, grow their business(es). Client Relationsh­ip Management (CRM), marketing, rainmaking and business planning.

The training, which will be facilitate­d by Cynthia Lareine, a Uk-trained business developmen­t strategist­s and founder/ CEO of LGC, will also focus on the fiercely competitiv­e business landscape coupled with growing client sophistica­tion, technologi­cal advances, procuremen­t and pricing pressures, supply of lawyers outstrippi­ng demand. Aderemi expects that at the end of the exercise, Nigerian lawyers must adopt a more aggressive and sophistica­ted approach to marketing legal services using technology as an enabler and must do so within allowable parameters. He believes that this will assist Nigerian lawyers compete globally.

The virtual training, scheduled to take place on December 9, 2020 is open to both members and nonmembers of the NBA-SBL.
