We are seeking Lagosians’ attention because they matter, says Lagos4lagos founder

Initiator of the Lagos4lagos Movement and lead visionary of Team Jandor, Abdul-azeez Adediran, said on Wednesday that the movement has been seeking attention from Lagosians because it is the people that really matter.

Adediran said the essence was to get Lagosians to pay attention to the activities of the Lagos4lagos Movement, a political group that seeks true independence and well-being of every inhabitant of Lagos, and the amount of work it has done in the past four years.

He was responding to a comment credited to the publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, whom he said accused the movement of attention-seeking.

“I read a reaction from the APC publicity secretary on our movement, saying that I was just seeking attention. Well, it’s okay because that’s exactly what we’re doing. We are seeking attention from Lagosians so that they can pay attention to us to see what we have been doing, how far we have gone, the amount of hard work we have put in place and how consistent we have been for the past four years to tell ourselves that we can do better,” Adediran said at a press conference in Lagos on Wednesday.

He also accused the APC of throwing obstacles at the movement, saying the only sin he and his team have committed is that they are growing everywhere and every day. He stressed that he and his team would not succumb to threats from any quarters.

“We are not relying on old structures and we are not lazy like some people, bowing to people or belonging to the club of attention-seekers. We are seeking our own attention elsewhere and where it matters which are the people. And thank God, they have been responding well,” he said.

Citing some of the unpalatable series of events which he said he had been subjected to, Adediran said he was invited by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) as a keynote speaker but a few hours into the event, he got a call from the organisers that a call came from a higher authority in the state telling them to withdraw him as one of the speakers at the event.

He cited another instance where the venue for the celebration of his birthday was cancelled.
