Ihave just gone through a survey that moved me to deep thoughts, the results are amazing, interesting and the stats are mind boggling and facts are astounding. The survey was conducted by some people in an Ivy League school in the US about Happiness and of course the results are part of what I want to share with you today.

One of the things that we all seek in life is Happiness, in fact the American Constitution was crafted by People (Immigrants) ‘in Pursuit Of Happiness’ and it looks pretty much like the current Americans are living the Life. The results found out that Happiness isn’t achieved through riches, wealth, fame, glamour or better still ‘Things’ but simply around certain Values and intangibles.

I got thrilled because the Bible also says the same; King Solomon, the richest man in scriptures claimed that he didn’t find true happiness outside the Word, yet he had money, women, houses, gold, etc. Things Do Not Give Happiness, We Buy Things Hoping They Will Make Us Happy.

Paul said one of the fruits of the spirit is Joy, modern way of saying Happiness, ‘but the fruit of the spirit is Love, Peace, Joy...’ (Gal 5 v 22). This means that those who claim to have the Holy Spirit Indwelling and lack Joy should have a rethink. Do Not Confuse Happenings with Happiness; Happenings can sadden us but inherently we can be Happy People amid those Happenings.

From the surveys and studies, the Happiest People on earth were found in India amongst the Poorest People. Happiness is not Connected to Prosperity and it is how God created us from the beginning. Our progenitors were probably happier than we are today with all the gadgets and wealth that we have. Happiness is a state of mind and nourished with grace of contentment not determined by things we possess or don’t possess.

Let me share simple keys to living a happy life and becoming a Happy Person....

5 Keys to happiness Relationships:

Happy People treat people right and love more. Most people who don’t keep relationships are sad and unhappy. You must be careful with relationships that you make and keep them longer. Friendship is critical to happiness. That’s why marriages break easily in America because they are unhappy and looking for people to make them happy not those to make happy. Selfish people are not good to be friends with.

Faith: Studies also has discovered that Happy humans are men and women of Faith. They believe in God somehow and that births inner Peace and produces outward happiness.

Laughs and smiles: Do you know that Hitler doesn’t have too many pictures of himself smiling and laughing because he probably wasn’t a Happy Person but sad even though he was a leader of a great nation. Happy People always wear cheerful looks with or without make up.

Giving: Happy People are also Givers, yes that’s what the study says, and I don’t mean ‘heavy givers’ but just ‘givers.’ They give their neighbours little things like time, helping hands, salt, garri, etc. They easily share what they have with people around who need from them. Amazing how to distinguish Happy People from Selfish People.

Play: Do you know that poverty can’t stop people from playing, laughing, dancing, singing, making out time to sit in the village square to just PLAY. The modern man is too preoccupied with work and success that he doesn’t know how to play again. Play is a result of Happiness, so if you don’t play, it may be a sign that you are not happy.

Let me stop here and hope you will change your attitude towards life from today and become a Happy Person with or without being a Prosperous Person. Make Happiness your Pursuit not Prosperity.
