Excite Enterprise to simplify digitalisation for Nigerian small businesses
Excite Enterprise, a product of Excite Africa has launched in Lagos with the aim of simplifying the process of digitalisation for small businesses in Nigeria that will enable them to have access to funds, eliminate legal obstacles to registration, and reaching the right customers through influencer marketing.
Beyond the inability to access funding, most viable small businesses have various logistics challenges including legal documentation of their operations.
Bolaji Okusaga, CEO of Precise Platforms who will also act as a director in Excite Enterprise is hoping that the new enterprise will help revamp the macro, small and medium enterprise sector through its partnership with organisations across countries that are willing to support entrepreneurs in the country. According to him, Excite Enterprise is designed to facilitate solutions to the many problems faced by SMES in terms of low productivity, inability to access funds, legal difficulties involved in business registration, and reaching the right customers through influencer marketing.
“The only way the economy can grow is by providing jobs to the citizenry which can only happen if we change the narrative for SMES, if processes are in a place where things are simple, there will be massive employment opportunities for everyone if each SME can sustain its growth and recruit just one person,” Andrew Otiko, director at Excise Enterprise and CEO of Mobinet, Hong Kong.
He also noted that if the SME sector in Nigeria is well organised, there will be massive employment in the country.
To ensure the platform is accessible to businesses in rural communities, Excite has a language feature that enables users to select the language they want when on the platform. This makes communication easier for users. SME owners on the platform also have the opportunity to meet agencies that can facilitate funds for them, do bookkeeping, build personal websites, and engage influencers in marketing their products while on the platform.
Chinonso Ukwandu, chief technology officer of the company said there is also a recruitment and training tool on the platform, where prospective employers can meet the right fit, and also facilitate training for the small business owners.
The goal is to create Africa’s largest virtual market and help to actualize the potential of Africa’s vast informal sector. Excite Enterprise’s major focus is on providing business services for Micro, Small, and Medium businesses.
