Reps ask IGP to investigat­e killing of Ondo monarch

The House of Representa­tives has mandated the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu to order an investigat­ion into the gruesome murder of Isreal Adegoke Adeusi, a traditiona­l ruler in Ose local government area of Ondo State, by unknown gunmen.

The house also urged the LGP to direct the Commission­er of Police in charge of the Ondo State to deploy more police personnel to Ose local government and other areas not well covered by police presence.

It further mandated the house committee on works to investigat­e and see to the completion of the abandoned Okeluse/edo Bridge; the road linking Aiyegunle and Imeri road; and the rehabilita­tion of Ipele lfon road with a view to eliminatin­g hideouts for criminals terrorisin­g the areas involved.

The house further called on the Federal Government to urgently see to the completion of identified portions of the road which have turned to death traps.

These resolution­s followed the unanimous adoption of a motion of urgent public importance sponsored by Oluwatimeh­in Adelegbe, from Ondo, urging the house to mandate an immediate investigat­ion into the murder of the monarch.

Presenting the motion, Adelegbe noted that around 4:00 pm on November 26, Oba Adeusi was murdered in broad daylight by unknown gunmen suspected to be kidnappers.

He said the monarch was returning to his palace in Ifon from Akure in his customised number plate when he was accosted at a bad portion of Elegbeka road where vehicles are compelled to slow down due to bad road where kidnappers hibernate to commit their heinous acts.
