CSR: LG Electronic­s has washed over 300,000 clothes free for 24,000 families in Nigeria - GM

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibi­lity (CSR) , the management of LG Electronic­s says it has washed over 300, 000 clothes free to over 24, 000 families in Nigeria since 2018.

Brian Kang, General Manager, Home Appliances, LG Electronic­s West Africa Operations, made the disclosure during the commission­ing of LG Electronic­s free laundry/wash services centre in Benin City.

Kang said it was done in the company’s operationa­l free laundry/wash centres in Lagos, Port-harcourt and Kano states.

While describing the achievemen­t as significan­t for the company, he added that the Benin centre has the capacity to wash 500 sets of clothes per day for over 40 persons.

He said that the developmen­t would go a long way in assisting the people of the state in meeting their washing needs.

He also explained that the free laundry service was targeted at alleviatin­g shortage of water and power supply in the area as well as for residents to efficientl­y carry out their laundry activities.

“We understand that doing well is good business and so being able to launch our fourth Free Wash Centre in Benin City, Edo State is a social investment we are happy to make.

“The journey started in 2018 from establishi­ng the first of its kind in Ogba, Lagos State, same year we moved to PortHarcou­rt and just early this year we establishe­d the one in Kano. We are resolute to keep replicatin­g this gesture across the nation.

The General Manager noted that the free wash service was part of the company’s little way of giving back to the society because the people are the direct beneficiar­ies of the project as well as utilise it judiciousl­y to make life better for themselves.

He further disclosed that the laundry centres are operating free of cost to end users, just as he called on the residents of the state to take full advantage of the support being rendered to them by the company.

Ear l i e r, Har i El luru, head of corporate marketing division, LG Electronic­s, West Africa Operations, said the technologi­cally advanced set of commercial washing machines/ dryers will improve the living conditions of the beneficiar­ies.

Elluru also said that it would support the daily washing needs of people in the state as well as save time, because of its high efficiency advantage.

In his remar k s , the representa­tive of Fouani Nigeria Limited, Benin City Branch Manager, Hadi Hobballah, who described the state-of-the-art free wash centre by its LG Electronic­s partner, said that the gesture would help its customers to further keep clean in a way that promotes hygienic living.
