BAF awards grants to schools in Lagos

As part of its commitment to the improvemen­t of teaching and learning across schools in Lagos, Bunmi Adedayo Foundation (BAF) awarded grants to 30 primary schools in the state under “Tech Relevant Teachers (TRT) project.

The award ceremony which was supported by the Coca– Cola Foundation, offered teaching aids such as laptop computers, Bluetooth among others to the beneficiar­ies who went through rigorous exercise.

Speaking at the event which also witnessed accountabi­lity training for the awardees, member board of director,

Bunmi Adedayo Foundation, Temi Adedayo affirmed that the organisati­on since its inception had shown everyone that BAF is open to working with others in achieving the change that they seek within the education sector.

“What is needed is a willing population like the 216 TRTP trained schools and the top 30 that we empowered today. We are willing to do more,” she added.

However, she lauded the Coca-cola Foundation (TCCF) and their amiable team within Africa and Nigeria for the great deal of interest and support that they have shown to their work in the education space.

However, she reminded the sub-grantees that the next 3 weeks required hard work and determinat­ion as there is still one more prize to compete for.

In her words: “I’d like to also challenge you to push harder, even against your natural limits, so that you can find a place amongst the top 3 schools that will eventually evolve.”

Giving a brief background of the project which kicked off early this year, Femi Martins explained that the project also aimed to educate participat­ing schools on how to leverage on technology to build sustainabi­lity in to their school system.

A representa­tive of CocoCola Foundation, Ifeyinwa Echendu who also spoke at the event congratula­ted the beneficiar­ies and added that the partnershi­p between her organisati­on and BAF was because both share the same interest.
