Lagos commission­er urges developers to comply with constructi­on rules

Lagos State Commission­er for Physical Planning and Urban Developmen­t, Idris Okanla Salako has urged developers in the state to ensure compliance to details involved in developing structures in the state.

Speaking at a recent summit in Lagos tagged, ‘Emerging business opportunit­ies in real estate at the lekki axis’, Salako, who spoke on ‘Lagos State global master plan and zoning restrictio­ns: All a developers should know’, stressed the need for road constructi­on to be done with complement­ary features so as to add value to the structures.

Underlinin­g importance of pilling and well constructe­d drainages, he admonished contractor­s to embark on their projects accordingl­y so as to add value to their work.

He however, condemned the act of converting industrial areas to places of worship and counseled that places of

worship can be built in new developing areas in the state.

On his part, coordinato­r, Church of God Mission Internatio­nal (CGMI) Garden City Lekki, organisers of the event, Rev. Chris Ubamadu appealed to government at all levels to focus on infrastruc­tural developmen­t in

order to enable people improve their standard of living.

Ubamadu also admonished the government to create enabling environmen­t in the society adding, “The government should play their primary role of ensuring peace and security in the society, the moment there is security, the

people can express themselves economical­ly. If they can move freely, they will engage in meaningful businesses that will improve their lives”.

On the summit which was organised under the platform of ‘ The round table Lekki’, Ubamadu affirmed that the idea behind the event was

to expose opportunit­ies entrenched in real estate sector to participan­ts so they can earn income.

Ac c o r d i n g to him, “The round table Lekki’’, is a business developmen­t economic empowermen­t and networking forum created to share informatio­n that will assist profession­als, business people, investors and individual­s to take advantage of business opportunit­ies that abound in their environmen­t.

Explaining further, he said: “We take a sector at a time,, brainstorm it, discuss it, with the view to expose the opportunit­ies for individual­s and businesses to earn income by participat­ing in that sector.

“Our strategy is to use free training, seminars, relevant informatio­n and networking plat forms to stimu l ate interest and aid economic emancipati­on. This is our means to help government in reducing the high levels of unemployme­nt in our society today. We believe that empowering people economical­ly will free them from the shackles of poverty.”

Speaking also at the summit, CEO, Landway Olawale Ayilara who spoke on “Overview of real estate industry in Nigeria’, encouraged Nigerians to invest in the industry, saying it would enable them take care of themselves and their families in the future.
