Lagos commissioner urges developers to comply with construction rules
Lagos State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Idris Okanla Salako has urged developers in the state to ensure compliance to details involved in developing structures in the state.
Speaking at a recent summit in Lagos tagged, ‘Emerging business opportunities in real estate at the lekki axis’, Salako, who spoke on ‘Lagos State global master plan and zoning restrictions: All a developers should know’, stressed the need for road construction to be done with complementary features so as to add value to the structures.
Underlining importance of pilling and well constructed drainages, he admonished contractors to embark on their projects accordingly so as to add value to their work.
He however, condemned the act of converting industrial areas to places of worship and counseled that places of
worship can be built in new developing areas in the state.
On his part, coordinator, Church of God Mission International (CGMI) Garden City Lekki, organisers of the event, Rev. Chris Ubamadu appealed to government at all levels to focus on infrastructural development in
order to enable people improve their standard of living.
Ubamadu also admonished the government to create enabling environment in the society adding, “The government should play their primary role of ensuring peace and security in the society, the moment there is security, the
people can express themselves economically. If they can move freely, they will engage in meaningful businesses that will improve their lives”.
On the summit which was organised under the platform of ‘ The round table Lekki’, Ubamadu affirmed that the idea behind the event was
to expose opportunities entrenched in real estate sector to participants so they can earn income.
Ac c o r d i n g to him, “The round table Lekki’’, is a business development economic empowerment and networking forum created to share information that will assist professionals, business people, investors and individuals to take advantage of business opportunities that abound in their environment.
Explaining further, he said: “We take a sector at a time,, brainstorm it, discuss it, with the view to expose the opportunities for individuals and businesses to earn income by participating in that sector.
“Our strategy is to use free training, seminars, relevant information and networking plat forms to stimu l ate interest and aid economic emancipation. This is our means to help government in reducing the high levels of unemployment in our society today. We believe that empowering people economically will free them from the shackles of poverty.”
Speaking also at the summit, CEO, Landway Olawale Ayilara who spoke on “Overview of real estate industry in Nigeria’, encouraged Nigerians to invest in the industry, saying it would enable them take care of themselves and their families in the future.
