How old are you?

- With Rev. Yomi Kasali

He was asked by the king and the answer he gave inspired me to think again about my age. It was Pharaoh who asked Jacob the question and the answer that

Jacob gave Inspired me deeply to have a rethink about the subject of Age. ‘And Pharaoh said unto Jacob, “

How Old Are You?”, and Jacob said unto pharaoh, the years of my pilgrimage are an hundred and thirty years; few and evil have the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their pilgrimage’ (Gen. 47 v 8-9).

A wise man once said, ‘age is in the mind’ and I concur with his position; there are many who don’t know how to measure age and make decisions based on their understanding of biological Age only. There are many ways to see age and relate with people about Age. I am sure your answer will be slightly different from that of Jacob if you were asked that question today.

Allow me to Inspire you today on how to know your true age; you need to take a second look at yourself towards understanding if your have grown in life or just clocking older in age. We all celebrate birthdays yearly based on our biological age not other wise, but we should really be thinking about the other areas of our lives that should matter to us all.

3 Ways to measure your age

Biological age: This is the most common age that we know and celebrate. Most people only know age from biological perspective, the date and year they were born into this earth, we do birthdays around that date and year, we relate with those born around the same year as peers and friends.

Spiritual age: This is the year of our New Birth; many people do not celebrate the year they were born again or became conscious of their spiritual lives. Paul spoke about this age when he said, ‘when I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child and I thought as a child, but when I became a man, I put away childish things’ (1 Cor. 13 v 11). We were all babes once and drank milk before we ate meat (1 Pet. 2 v 1; Heb. 5 v 12-14)

Intellectual age: This is very different from the above however I have found out that some people could be younger in biological age but older intellectually because of the way they handle matters. They are probably more matured than those older than them, this is one of the most important reasons for handling relationships in life, some people don’t know how to manage people while others have emotional intelligence more than others.

Let me stop here and not go to the other forms of measuring your Age, but kindly answer the question today...how Old Are You from the above three perspectives.
