9 Kidnapping increasing along Jere-Bwari road – District Head

- Maryam Ahmadu-Suka, Kaduna

The District Head of Jere in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Dr. Ishaq Usman, has alerted on increasing cases of kidnapping along the JereBwari Expressway.

It would be recalled that on March 10, two people were kidnapped and another shot when armed robbers attacked their vehicle along the road which is an alternate route linking Abuja to Kaduna State.

The district head who spoke with newsmen in Kaduna described kidnapping of innocent people for ransom as a sad development which must be stopped.

“Such kidnappings are carried out by selfish individuals who are desperately looking for money even though efforts by the federal and state government have drastically reduced kidnapping in the community. Governments both at the state and federal levels have given it a top priority by putting security personnel in strategic areas along that route. We have also sensitised our people on the need to be vigilant by reporting cases of kidnapping to right authorities. Whenever there is a kidnap case along the KadunaAbuja expressway people always point fingers at Jere but most times you will find out that the case didn’t happen in Jere,” he said.

On the crisis in Southern Kaduna, he said no region can develop without peace and appealed to Southern Kaduna residents to embrace peace and love one another to be able develop their community.
