Katsina United battle ABS in La Liga/NPFL U-15 finals

Katsina United will this afternoon battle ABS FC of Ilorin in the finals of the maiden edition of the La Liga/NPFL U15 Promises League at the Agege township stadium in Lagos.

Katsina United who topped the Kaduna Zone to qualify for the final phase of the league defeated 3SC 1-0 in the final group match to set up the final against ABS.

They had lost their second group match against Niger Tornadoes but returned to winning ways immediatel­y by beating the ‘Oluyole Warriors’ of Ibadan.

Katsina United’s opponents in today’s finals defeated Rivers United 2-0 in their last group match to reach the finals.

The Masari boys are on the threshold of history and are said to be confident of beating their opponents to the trophy at stake.

In his words of encouragem­ent to the youngsters, Chairman of Katsina United, Alhaji Aminu Balele Kurfi charged the players to do everything possible to win the final match.

He said the government and people of Katsina State are fully behind the boys and so they shouldn’t let them down.

“I have done my best to motivate the players to win the trophy. This is a developmen­tal tournament but we shall be happy with the trophy in our kitty.

“Our sports loving governor, Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari is anxiously waiting for the trophy to be presented to him. We hope to deliver the Cup to him,” he said.

On his part, ABS Football Director Alloy Chuwkuemek­a said his boys will rise to the occasion against Katsina United.

“We have a good team so our target is the trophy. We don’t need to say much.

“Katsina United have a good team but we know how to subdue them when we meet on Saturday (today),” he said.
