Another invitation hanging on Misau for Sept. 6

Meanwhile, the senator is being expected at a special panel of the Police Service Commission on September 6, 2017. On August 30, 2017, the commission invited Senator Hamman Misau to appear before its Special Panel Investigating allegations about special promotions in the Nigeria Police Force.

A statement from the spokesman of the Commission, Ikechukwu Ani said the Commission was expecting the Senator to appear before it on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 11.00am.

Ani said the commission in a letter signed by the Chairman of the Special Panel, Hon. Justice O. Adekeye, a retired Justice of the Supreme Court, stated that the immediate issue for investigation was the genuineness or otherwise of Misau’s two letters of retirement.

He said the panel received correspondence from the Nigeria Police Force Special Investigation Panel (SIP) Force Headquarters dated August 28, 2017 relating to the senator’s retirement from the Nigeria Police Force.

Ani said: “The Police Service Commission, the only organ saddled with the statutory responsibility of issuing letters of retirement to all police officers except the IGP, has a vital role to play in determining the authenticity of this letter.”

He said Senator Misau was invited to appear before the panel with the original copy of his letter of retirement for authentication.
