‘How I became a professor at 40’
The Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Professor Nasiru Idris, said that he dedicated his life to rigorous studies and shunning unionism to become a professor at 40 years.
Prof Idris made the remarks when award of “Distinguish Recognition” was bestowed on him by National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) in Keffi, Nasarawa State.
According to him, the adage that nobody eats his cake and has was a The Borno State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Usman Durkwa yesterday said that emirs displaced by insurgents are back to their domains to celebrate Sallah as a sign that peace has returned to the state.
Usman who stated this after Eid-Eil-Kabir prayers in Maiduguri, said that this year’s Sallah celebration was most reality to achieving success.
He appealed to NANS as the voice of the students to make the government and the society to understand that the present on going strike of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is not for personal financial gains but to restructure and upgrade the university system.
A senior lecturer in the department of geography, Dr Samaila
Kunden, expressed gratitude to NANS for recognizing his boss and described Professor Nasiru as an erudite scholar.
Borno celebrates peaceful Sallah
