Gov’t gets N4.2bn allocation for August
NAF graduates intelligence officers in Makurdi
The Kogi State government on Friday confirmed the receipt of N4.2billion as statutory allocation released to the state for the month of August 2017.
TThis was revealed in a statement issued in Lokoja by the State Commissioner for Finance, Asiwaju Idris Asiru.
He said the state’s Value Added Tax (VAT) for August was N909 million as against N855million he Igbo community and the people of Sabon- Gari Local Government Area of Kaduna State have endorsed a peace accord initiated by Arewa Youth Development Organization aimed to ensure harmonious co-existence among the diverse ethnic and religious groups.
This is against the back-drop of recent tirade of hate speeches between Igbo and Arewa communities.
Receiving the Igbo delegation, Arewa Youth and Community leaders at his palace, the District Head of Sabon Gari, Iyan Zazzau Alhaji Bashar Aminu, represented by Makama Alhaji Tukur described the initiative as a positive development.
According to him, it was a unique modern approach to any conflict resolution especially a heterogeneous community.
He said the action was the exact approach the Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris, initiated especially at this time when peaceful co-existance was being threatened by politics and regional sentiments.
The Kaduna State Chairman of Arewa Youth and Development Organization, Alhai Imrana Abubakar Nata’ala, said the vision of the organization was to see the future of the country where no one would be asked to discriminate against one another.
The Igwe Ezeeigbo Unogu, thanked Iyan Zazzau, for hosting the meeting, noting that already Igbos have resolved not to leave Zaria following government and the Emirate’s pledge to provide adequate security.

The commissioner said the decision to make the figures public was in line with the policy of transparency, efficiency and accountability to the people of the state.
Igbos, Sabon- Gari community endorse peace accord
he Nigerian Airforce School of Air Intelligence (NAFSAINT) in Makurdi, Benue State yesterday graduated its personnel in intelligence analysis aimed at combating insurgency and other forms of unrest in crisis prone areas of the country.
Commandant of NAFSAINT, Group Capt Samuel Chinda, said that after 16 weeks of intensive training and academic activities, the seven graduating Basic Intelligence Officers had been positioned to perform their task efficiently.
Chinda added that through capacity building initiative for effective, efficient and timely employment of airpower in response to Nigeria’s national security challenges, terrorism would become a thing of the past in line with the vision to reposition the NAF into a highly professional and disciplined force.
The Guest of Honour and Air Commanding Officer of Tactical Air Command (TAC), Air Vice Marshal, Mohammed Idris, charged the gradaunds to use the knowledge gathered to better the operations of the armed forces in their respective fields of assignment.
