Sultan urges Muslims to uphold truth

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, has urged Muslim Ummah to continue upholding the truth and pursue legitimate means of livelihood. The Sultan, who is also the National Chairman of Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), Out of the over 20,000 applicants that sought for admission into the Kaduna Polytechni­c, only 11,608 were offered admission and matriculat­ed for the 2017/2018 academic session. made the call at the Jos Central Mosque yesterday while presenting a new tricycle, refrigerat­or, grinding machine and N70, 000 to a Keke-NAPEP driver and his wife who had returned N500, 000 left by a passenger.

The Sultan, represente­d by the Emir of Wase and Plateau State Chairman of JNI, Speaking at the matriculat­ion ceremony, the rector of the polytechni­c, Professor Idris M. Bugaje charged the newly admitted students on academic excellence urging them to set high academic and moral standards for themselves. Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State has enjoined Christian faithful and all Nigerians to emulate the spiritual lessons of Easter and Jesus Christ and continue to imbibe virtues by exhibiting the spirit of forgivenes­s.

He also said they should imbibe the spirit of love, sharing, compassion, good neighbourl­iness and peaceful coexistenc­e among the diverse people of the state.

In a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Musa Elayo, yesterday in Lafia, Al-Makura, called on Christians to use this year’s celebratio­n as a period of sober reflection to re-echo the teachings and what Jesus Christ stood and died for. Dr Sambo Haruna, said JNI felt the need to celebrate and appreciate Bashir because of what he did in order to encourage him and others to be good Samaritans.

Bashir had on November 20, 2017 returned N582, 450 to a passenger, Mama Ejima, who forgot the money in his tricycle. He also encouraged them to remain focused so as to make meaningful progress in the institutio­n. The rector advised them not to allow any extraneous or peer-group influence to distract their attention from their academic work.

Easter: Al-Makura enjoins Christians, others on forgivenes­s Center donates learning materials, tricycles to physically-challenged

The Beautiful Gate Handicap Peoples Centre has donated 30 customised tricycles and 10 braille machines to physically­challenged students of the Aminu Saleh College of Education, Azare, Bauchi State.

The center was founded by an American, Mr Ronald Rice and has an office in Jos, Plateau State.

Donating the items, Mr Rice commended the college for its commitment towards inclusive education by providing free registrati­on, accommodat­ion, medicare and customised motorbikes amongst others to make learning less stressful for students.

Provost of the College, Dr Abdullahi Mohammed Isyaku, stated that the support and gestures rendered were part of their primary duties and social responsibi­lities to assist humanity.
