Commission tasks Nigerians on IDPs
The National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI) has urged corporate organisations and wealthy individuals to increase assistance to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and other Persons of Concern (POC) in the country.
The Federal Commissioner, (NCFRMI), Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq, made the appeal yesterday in Abuja at the continuation of the medical outreach for the IDPs organised by the commission and the NISA Premier Hospital at the Wassa IDP Camp, Apo.
According to her, the outreach is one of the core mandates of the commission and part of series of programmes to cater for those affected by insurgency and other forms of displacement.
She reiterated that the present administration’s commitment to the wellbeing of IDPs and other Persons of Concerns (POC) in the country.
Before yesterday’s Wassa outreach, the event which was officially flaggedoff in the New Kuchingoro IDP camp, had also held in Waru and Durumi camps as part of measures to bring rapid response to the health challenges of the IDPs in various camps in the FCT.
The leader of the NISA personnel, Dr. AbdulRahim AbdulRasheed, said their intervention was also based on their corporate social responsibility as committed to by the Executive Vice Chairman, Ibrahim Wada.
