Ashadi excited by chance to play against Atletico Madrid
Katsina United mercurial midfielder, Destiny Ashadi has said he is excited by his invitation to be part of the Super Eagles Team B that will face Atletico Madrid in a friendly match on Tuesday, May 22 in Uyo.
Ashadi who has been in outstanding form for Katsina United this season with seven goals to show for his efforts is among the home based players who have been listed for the median edition of the GOtv Max Cup..
In a chat with Daily Trust on Saturday, the former Kogi United star said he is eagerly looking forward to the match which would offer him the opportunity to play against some of the best players in the world.
The player who missed 2018 CHAN tournament in Morocco due to injury said his invitation for the friendly has assuaged the pain he felt when he could not make it to tournament.
“I want to thank God for the opportunity to play against some of the best players in the world. Atletico Madrid have just won the Europa Cup and that tells you how big they are.
“It is great opportunity that I am going to put to good use. Our coach has invited so many good midfielders which means I have to put in everything in order to make the team.
“I was pained when I missed the CHAN tournament in Morocco but by the grace of God, I am going back to continue from where injury stopped me,” he said.
Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid coach, Diego Simeone has listed 11 members of the squad that defeated Olympique Marseille 3-0 in the finals of this year’s Europa Cup for this friendly match.
