Mandate Health Empowerment Initiative (MHEI) in conjunction with Filmtrique and Seun Dania Production are working a movie to fight drug abuse in Nigeria as well as sensitize the public about mental disorder arising from the menace.

The president of MHEI, Mr Zion Ameh who spoke about the production during a mental health conference held in Abuja, said the movie would change the narrative of drug awareness campaign in the country.

According to him, the movie titled “NIMBE- The Movie” would be released next month and will be screened in all the local government areas in the country as well as schools and religious gatherings.

He said: “The production of the movie is currently ongoing and it features lead actors in the country.

“It is a one off movie but it will be screened at the grassroots, cutting across all wards and local governments of the country.

“This [the movie] is targeted at addressing root causes, treatment rehabilitation concerns and the implication of drugs and substance abuse.”

On his part, the executive producer of ‘Nimbe-The Movie,’ Mr. Seun Dania explained that the movie is an alternative approach to the traditional methods of grassroots awareness campaigns for drugs and substance abuse.

He reiterated the “need for us to #savethissociety by looking out for each other and showing love and compassion to one another.”
