NSCDC staff protest non-payment of allowances

Operatives of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) deployed to Ekiti State for today’s much anticipate­d governorsh­ip election have alleged been shortchang­ed by senior officers in the payment of their allowances for A non-government­al organisati­on, Juremi Foundation, will on July 21, hold a Disability Awareness Walk in Abuja to create awareness and sensitise the public on the importance of creating equal opportunit­ies for physically challenged persons in the society. In a statement in Owerri yesterday, they urged Nigerians not to be deterred the poll. Some of them told newsmen in Ado Ekiti that apart from nonpayment of the allowances, some of them would not receive any money until Monday, when the exercise would have been completed. Those from Ondo, Osun, Oyo and Kwara states alleged that they must have Juremi-Ability in Disability (J-AID Walk) is expected to attract over 5,000 people. The Coordinato­r of the group, Mr. Charles Efe Sylvester, described R-APC as a group of people who are afraid of the president’s anticorrup­tion stand and anti-graft war.He added that members of the R-APC were puppets of the PDP and condemned what he described as “the Mickey Mouse coalition.” been shortchang­ed. But the state’s spokesman of the corps, Tolu Afolabi, said: “We have been adequately paid for this national assignment. Dispel all rumours from mischief makers. The DCG Operations, Mr. Kelechi Madu, has addressed our officers on the election operations, and warned all to maintain decorum during the poll.”

He maintained that advocates of restructur­ing were genuine patriots who are passionate­ly committed to the healthy growth of the country and peaceful co-existence among all Nigerians. According to him, Nigeria cannot be productive with the current structure.
