Lumumba tasks Pinnick on reconciliation of aggrieved stakeholders

- David Ngobua

Aformer NFF presidential candidate, Hon. Lumumba Dah Adeh has tasked the re-elected president of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick to immediately embark on genuine reconciliation of all aggrieved stakeholders.

The first vice president of the Confederation of African Football, CAF, made history on Thursday in Katsina where he was re-elected NFF president.

He became the first NFF president to be re-elected as all his precedessors had failed in their bids.

Moment after his victory, Pinnick said ‘there is no victor, no vanquished in the race as football remains the ultimate winner’.

In his reaction to Pinnick’s victory, the proprietor of the defunct Jos City Raiders FC said the time has come for the NFF president to appease all football stakeholders who are genuinely aggrieved.

He added that all stakeholders with geninue grievancies should be willing to sheathe their swords for peace to reign in Nigerian football.

Lumumba reiterated that in as much as the elections in Katsina held without much rancour, that is not enough reason to believe that the crisis in Nigerian football is completely over.

“The much I can say now is that whatever happens in Nigerian football, there is need for us to have peace.

“There is need to reconcile the various interests and groups so that we can have lasting peace in Nigerian football.

“The only way to go about it is to appease those who are aggrieved and are in courts with various cases.

“I believe the landscape is big enough to accommodate everybody.

“So the leadership of the NFF should make conscious efforts at uniting the football family.

“There is really no reason for all the fights, if we truly desire progress in Nigerian football,” said Lumumba.

The former member of the House of Representatives also called on the National Assembly to expediate action on the NFF bill that is yet to be signed into law.

He said “I call on the National Assembly to also contribute their quota to peace in Nigerian football by ensuring they conclude debate on the NFF bill as soon as possible.
