Trump impeachment, lessons for Africa
Sadiq Mohammed writes from Kano
It is no longer news that the President of the United States, Donald Trump has been impeached. This happened on December 18, 2019 when the House of Representatives approved articles of impeachment on charges of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.
The current impeachment inquiry was incited by a whistleblower. Are we protecting our whistleblower in Africa?
Our lawmakers are voted to uphold our constitutions and to protect our nations. In most cases, laws are made to favor the elite.
Similarly, our lawmakers can’t see any flaw to initiate impeachment proceedings against the President that commits grave offence contrary to the Constitution.
How can we right the wrong when most of our laws are as old as Methuselah and most of our leaders are self-centered?

Justify your promotions
I want to use this medium to congratulate the forty newly promoted and decorated commissioners of police. This is the first time such a large number of senior police officers were decorated among other upward movements within the Force.
The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu said since his appointment promoted 10,114 officers based on merit.
This is a welcomed development more so that it is based on value.
However, I would appeal to the newly promoted officers not to relent on their oars but to make the Force better to justify their statuses.
