Kaduna LG polls: SIECOM declares 4 LGs inconclusi­ve over insecurity

The Kaduna State Independen­t Electoral Commission (KADSIECOM) has declared the September 4 local government elections in some local government areas inconclusi­ve over insecurity.

The local government­s are Jaba, Kauru Jema’a, Kachia, Soba LGAs.

Recall that local government elections held in 19 local government­s areas of the state, while it was postponed in the four areas due to insecurity.

Addressing a press conference on Friday, the Chairman of KADSIECOM,

Dr. Saratu Binta Dikko-Audu, said the results of the affected LGs are inconclusi­ve because elections could not hold in some wards.

According to her, “In the case of Jaba LGA, the tribunal will be left to determine the matter because two conflictin­g results were announced.”

She said one result in Jaba was announced in favour of APC, while another was announced in favour of PDP.

On those that have been confirmed winners, she listed Kauru where the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) scored 19,509 defeating the ruling All Progressiv­e Congress (APC) with 10,941 votes.

She noted that APC won 14 local government areas out of 19 where the election took place.

The results include: Giwa (APC 22,896), (PDP 3,534); Igabi (APC 29,804), (PDP 10,865); Sanga (APC 21,854), (PDP 12,832); Kaduna North (APC 16,575), (PDP 15,474); Kaduna South (APC 19,568) (PDP 17,998); Kagarko (APC 20,558), (PDP 14,494); Kaura (APC 10,941), (PDP 19,509).

Others are: Kuaru (APC 27,691), (PDP 21,800); Kubau (APC 23,973), (PDP 9038); Kudan (APC 18,129), (PDP 16,123); Lere (APC 36,389), (PDP 24,294); Makarfi (APC 16,328), (PDP 14,739); Sabon Gari (APC 32,405), (PDP 13,777).
