Justice must be served for victims of Kaduna bombing - Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar

FG approves compensati­on of victims

The Sultan of Sokoto Dr Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar has demanded justice for the victims of the military airstrike which killed over 100 people in Tudun Biri village of Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The Sultan, who spoke as the Chairman of the Silver Anniversar­y of the 11th Emir of Jama’a, Alhaji (Dr) Muhammad Isa Muhammad (CON), on Friday, in Kafanchan, Kaduna State, said the occasion was sober and a moment for prayers.

He said, “We are here not only to celebrate the emir, but to also pray for the emirate and the lives of those killed in Kaduna State. We are going to push for it until justice is served to the people.

In his response, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christophe­r Musa, described what happened in Kaduna as highly regrettabl­e.

“Our duty is to protect the citizens; we are going to take serious action to make sure something like this does not happen again anywhere in the country. The president has ordered a thorough investigat­ion on it,” he said.

The emir of Jama’a Alhaji Muhammad Isa Muhammad thanked the Kaduna State government and all those who supported and prayed for his success.

Meanwhile, the Senate has vowed to ensure full compliance to federal government’s directive for the compensati­on of victims in the bombing.

Senator representi­ng Kaduna North, Barrister Ibrahim Khalid Soba, gave the assurance in his condolence message to the families of victims of the attack.

The Senator who spoke through his media aide, Ismail Sahabi, said all legislativ­e instrument­s would be used to ensure full compliance to the directive.

Heassuredt­hatallcomp­ensations would be made through proper compliance in accordance with federal government’s directive.
