A27-year-old young man from Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State, Dauda Abdulfatai, has entered his second day in a 200-hour ironing marathon to record his name in the Guinness World Record.

Dauda commenced his ironing marathon bid on Wednesday morning at Nyama-Nyama area of Ganaja Village in Lokoja.

Daily Trust Saturday learnt his objective is to break the existing record of 100 hours held by Gareth Sander of the United Kingdom, which took place from 26th to 30th October 2015.

It was gathered that the young man got the reply to his bid recently via email from Guinness World Records, informing him that his application (reference number 230618101834Imi) had been accepted.

“Application Reference: 230618101834|mi, Hello, Dauda Abdulfatai. We are pleased to inform you that your application has been accepted under the following title: Longest Marathon Ironing”, said the GWR in a reply to Dauda.

It was further learnt that the GWR’s reply provided a link where he can access details about the current record and the strict guidelines he is expected to observe, during his attempt.

The attempt of the young man is a test of physical and mental strength, requiring unwavering focus and the ability to withstand fatigue and discomfort for eight days to achieve his aim.

Report said Gareth Sanders, 28, the record holder broke the world record in 2015 after nearly 100 hours non-stop ironing of 2,000 items and went down. It took the 28-year-old young man over two weeks to regain his strength fully from the attempt.
