Police nab wanted kidnapper after Wike’s N20m bounty
Operatives of the police antikidnap unit of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command have arrested one Saidu Abdulkadir popularly known as (Dahiru Adamu), who is among the two wanted kidnappers.
The arrest was made after the FCT minister Nyesom Wike declared a N20 million bounty on their heads.
Daily Trust had reported that Wike on Tuesday, during his visit to the FCT Police Command where the Commissioner of Police Benneth Igwe paraded seven suspected kidnappers, urged the police to ensure the two wanted notorious kidnappers were captured alive or dead.
CP Benneth Igwe, who confirmed the arrest of Dahiru to journalists at the command on Friday, said the notorious kidnapper and one Abu Ibrahim, who is still at large, had both been on the run for a long time.
He said Adamu was apprehended after the anti-kidnap team of the command raided two kidnappers’ den at about 12am on Friday, in Kuje forest, which borders FCT and Nasarawa State, adding that Ibrahim was still at large, but the police were closing in on him.
He said two kidnapped victims, Habu Yakubu and Isufu Abubakar, who were abducted from Kwaita village through Pegi district of Kuje Area Council, were rescued unhurt during the raid.
He said the arrest of Adamu was a huge success for the command and the FCT administration, which would restore peace and security in the territory.
CP Igwe commended Wike for his support and encouragement to the police and also thanked the public for their cooperation and information that led to the arrest.
He, however, said that the command would not relent in its efforts to rid the FCT of all criminal elements, while urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police.
