The Edo State governor, Adams Oshiomole, yesterday called on the 12 aspirants contesting the governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to accept the outcome and support whoever emerges winner. Oshiomhole, who made the call while speaking with journalists shortly after casting his vote, noted that only one person can emerge winner.

“There were allegations that people were buying PVCs but all the delegates today came to the voting centre with their PVCs. There were apprehension that there would be violence but we are promoters of one man,one vote. I am happy that the process is free and it will be like that till the end” he said.

Speaking earlier, the chairman of the election committee, Alhaji Aminu Masari, said that the committee would uphold the party’s guide line for the election.

He said as an umpire, they were in the state to conduct free and fair election, urging the delegates to cooperate with them.

Masari said, total delegates for the election were 2,771, but that 2,582 turned up for accreditation.

“I discussed with the 12 aspirants and made them to understand that only one person will emerge winner. So all others should support him to ensure the APC victory during the governor ship election,” he said.

At the time of filing this report, voting was still on-going.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt General Tukur Buratai, yesterday in Zaria said the Nigerian Army is collaborating with the British Military Advisory Training team in order to introduce Nigerian soldiers to modern military warfare techniques. Buratai spoke during the 74 Regular Recruits Intake Passing-Out Parade that took place at the Depot Nigerian Army.

Represented by the Chief of Administration of the Nigerian Army, Major General A. B. Abubakar, the COAS said the collaboration with Britain is to ensure that the Army personnel are introduced to contemporary training methods.

“The introduction of improvised explosive devise awareness training and survival skills have made you a strong force to reckon with. This training is very important given the security challenges currently confronting the nation,” Buratai said.

He advised the 2,900 recruits to exhibit high sense of discipline, loyalty and selfless service while discharging their duties.

The COAS assured Nigerians that military personnel are on top of the security challenges facing Nigeria, adding that very soon everything will be fine.

He explained that the Depot Nigerian Army has been a platform where able-bodied young men and women are transformed into combatant soldiers capable of defending Nigeria’s territorial integrity from all threats.

Buratai lauded the management and staff of the institute for improving training standard, which according to him is yielding positive results, especially in the North East.
